One of the cornerstones of our faith is to serve others and care for the vulnerable. Jesus spoke often about caring for the "orphans and widows", who were the most physically and economically vulnerable in his time. And the Hebrew Scriptures includes many admonitions to care for the "stranger", "the alien" and the poor.
Indeed, I would argue that in this time of unprecedented job loss and economic upheaval, that we are called to do whatever we can to support our neighbors!
But if you're like me, you can easily feel overwhelmed by all the need. Millions out of work, struggling businesses, hospitals short on supplies, children needing lunches -- where to begin?!
Luckily for us, our Outreach Ministry has curated a list of ways that we can make a difference in our communities! From giving money for meals at the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club, to donating a baby monitor or cloth mask to Lawrence General Hospital, to supporting the Lupine Road ACT/Habitat houses, there are many ways we can give back.
Access the full list, and contact any member of the Outreach Ministry for more information, questions, or if you have other ideas for how we might contribute.
Let us love our neighbors!
