Remember God’s eternal goodness

Good people of West Parish,

With heartbreak, hate, turmoil, divisiveness, fear and devastation in the world, I invite you all to remember: take care of yourselves!

Turn off the news.   Put down your phone.   Spend time outside.   Carve out space for silence.   Remember God’s eternal goodness.

This will equip your mind and spirit to stay strong in hope for that world which God imagines for us.

As part of this invitation to make time for stillness, I commend to you the “On Being” podcast.   It is an interview with Rev. Eugene Peterson, who died last week at the age of 85.   This interview contains his comment that I quoted a few weeks ago about looking for a church: “Just go to the church closest to you, that’s the smallest.”
