Spring!

Spring comes every year.  Obviously!  And yet it never seems to be less surprising when suddenly out of the cold, brown earth erupts flowers and buds and leaves.  As I stand out in the yard with my dog every morning, I am enjoying watching the maple leaves bud and begin to emerge. There is a big, old maple tree at the top of our yard that has long limbs that arch down low, so I can stand eye-to-eye with the tips of the branches, gaining an intimate, daily view of their greening.  From a bare stick, comes new, fresh leaves!  Miraculous.  May all of us remember to stop and observe the miracles around us.  Yes, it's cliche, but it makes a difference when we pay attention.  Yes, there is chaos and fear and death, but the world is also achingly beautiful.
