Pentecost

This Sunday is Pentecost!  The day that the Spirit arrives! The day that people across cultures and languages are united! The day with such exuberance that people seem drunk!  It will be just like that this Sunday, when we welcome young people from the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club and the Men's Group awards their scholarships. "Scholarship Sunday" is always so moving, as we celebrate students who have persevered against obstacles, prejudice and disadvantages that most of us cannot fathom. We also celebrate the good work of our Men's Group and those who tutor and mentor these young people.  We celebrate our belief in a world where everyone is worthy and beloved.  And we celebrate our God who urges us all towards wholeness and joy.

So gather with us this Sunday for Pentecost AND Scholarship Sunday! Wear red if you wish, the liturgical color for the day!
